Imagine the Humboldtean ideal of holistic education undergoing a new revival. Imagine a new branch of centres of education and research, alongside schools and universities, which does, to date, not exist in the world. Imagine a global network of small education centres: Located in rural areas and in the poorer districts of cities. Rooted in the sensibilities of the local milieu but global regarding its horizon of thinking. Interdisciplinary, sophisticated but at the same time autonomous in respect to definition of the contents of study. Committed solely to the pursuit of knowledge and cognisance, but nevertheless caring and involved. At these education centres, simple local people study. They contribute their creativity, their ability to reflect, their local tradition and their ethos in order to call into being a locus of holistic education, independent research and critical reflection. For a better world and a more sustainable lifestyle. If you want to learn more about this vision, see here.
