Side Event at the occasion of UNFCCC COP18 in Doha

UNFCCC COP 18, BINGO Room
Qatar National Convention Centre

Climate change is one of the key global policy concerns of the 21st century. The global community agrees that action needs to be taken to mitigate climate change, particularly through reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions over the coming decades. The International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA) and the European Business Council for Sustainable Energy (e5) have assembled a diverse and experienced panel to discuss the potential for GHG reductions through energy saving technologies, and the role of collaborative approaches in achieving transformative changes in climate change mitigation.

Panelists will discuss:

  • 2050 Goal: Global energy demand and meeting the 2050 goal: key sector contributions to global energy and CO2 emissions reduction;
  • Environment: The potential impact of climate change as an example where coordination and partnerships between industry and International Governmental Organizations (IGO) are critical;
  • Innovation: The role of technology and innovation in protecting the environment.

This side event is an excellent opportunity for a productive discussion on these important topics.
